The Way to Restoration

2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Our text today is one in which God addresses the most wise man in history, Solomon. It is a response to a prayer for the nation of Israel and its future. But I would be remiss if I did not earnestly share with you, that it is also an answer to many of our prayers for America today.

Regardless of what the naysayers report, America is a country that is made up of hundreds of millions of people, many of whom claim Christianity. Founded by Christian men and women and based upon Christian principles, teachings and laws, we are a nation which has been blessed time and time again because of our close relationship with God.

However, it is a difficult time in which we live and America is beginning to suffer because of our sins. We have removed God and prayer to Him from our public schools, our marketplaces and our government. We have made ourselves addicts to pleasures, pornography and port. And we sacrifice our children on the altars of ‘freedom of self’ and ‘individual liberty’, pursuing money and all the power and material possessions that it can acquire.

We have made the right, wrong, and the wrong, right and like Israel, we have become too proud and fallen more deeply into sin. We have worshipped false gods, and drifted away from the Lord.

But it is not too late to change. Restoration may still be had, if we will but call on God, humble ourselves, and pray seeking His face, and turning from our wicked ways; then God says He will hear from heaven, and will forgive our sins, and heal our land.”

Will you join with me and call on Him today? Will you humbly pray for our nation to turn from our wicked ways?

God has shown us the way and given us a map to our desired destination. It is up to us to begin the journey! Will you?

God bless America!
